Funding

Beyond the Bars is supported by foundation partners, individual donors, and organizational members who believe that a person’s past should never determine their future. Our independence is essential to our ability to organize workers with records, confront exploitation, and hold powerful institutions to account.

Funding supports our overall organizing mission and is typically not earmarked for specific projects. We do not accept funding that would compromise our mission or influence the direction of our work or the positions we take. Our campaigns, victories, and worker leadership reflect this commitment.

Beyond the Bars is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
