CORPORATE CAMPAIGNS

Our corporate campaigns focus on winning enforceable, industry-wide standards in Florida’s temp economy. We currently center this work in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Leon Counties, home to more than one in five of Florida’s 880,000 temp workers. Our goal is to secure multi-employer agreements that set common wage and benefit standards, ending the race to the bottom and creating a level playing field for workers and responsible employers.

Breaking the Temp Trap

Florida’s temp economy runs on churn: low pay, unsafe worksites, and constant replacement. We organize workers to confront the companies profiting from the Temp Trap and win enforceable standards across employers.

LEGISLATIVE CAMPAIGNS

We advance legislative reforms that raise standards in the temp industry and challenge policies that trap workers with records in unsafe, unstable jobs.

state Campaigns

In Florida, we lead coalitions to defend and expand protections for workers with records, such as stopping corporate rollbacks of worker protections, ending supervision rules that criminalize job loss, and expanding fair-chance hiring and licensing access.

Ending Supervision Policies that Trap Workers

Florida’s state supervision system makes stable employment harder. People on supervision can be punished for losing work, leaving unsafe jobs, or missing a shift due to transportation, childcare, or employer abuse. We advocate to end these coercive supervision rules and ensure workers with records can exercise their labor rights without retaliation.

federal Campaigns

Nationally, we support reforms that raise the floor for temp work and strengthen pathways into quality jobs for workers with records.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)

In its current form, WOTC subsidizes employers for hiring workers with records into temporary positions. We work with National Employment Law Project (NELP) and others to reform WOTC so public dollars are used for public good.

We are on the Steering Committee of the Temp Worker Advocacy Coalition (TWAC) led by Grassroots Law and Organizing for Workers (GLOW), where we support federal legislation to guarantee equal pay for equal work, limit abusive temp-to-hire fees, and stop employers from using temp workers to weaken strikes.

#EndTheException

We are on the Steering Committee of the #EndTheException Campaign led by Worth Rises, where we advocate for federal legislation to remove the exception to the 13th Amendment that allows forced labor as punishment for a crime.
